We consider our rentals as more of a “concierge” program; we have fewer, better quality bikes at very competitive rates. We clean and tune them after every rental period.
Your rental starts the day you pick up the bike. We require a complete waiver filled out with drivers license and credit card info in lieu of a deposit. If the bike is overdue we will give you a gentle reminder. If it is not back by noon on the past due date you will be charged the per day rate for every overdue day.
Sure do. Typically rentals leave from the shop so you can get fit, set up and on the paths faster.
But, sometimes folks need bikes delivered. Typically our deliveries are arranged prior to or after shop hours. Special arrangements can be made however.
Absolutely! The shop sits about six miles from Sanibel. The bike path ends at Shell Point Road so you will have to cross over and ride along Summerlin Road for about 1.5 miles to the toll booth.
And no, bikes do not pay a toll. From there you are on the causeway shoulder until you reach the island and it’s miles of bike paths. Bike Path Map
You can feel confident riding to Sanibel. Thousands of riders cross the causeway each year. While there is no specific “bike lane” the County maintained “brake-down lane” which is wide.
Though highly recommended, helmets are not required for persons over 16 years of age. In an effort to encourage riders to wear helmets we have a supply of recreational helmets that we rent for $5 for the duration of your rental period.
You betcha! The Bike Bistro sits along nearly 200 miles of shared use pathways. You can ride to Captiva and back (about 40 miles) or all the way to Naples via Fort Myers Beach or out by RSW via Ben Hill Griffin. Lakes Park is a nice, casual 17 mile round trip jaunt as well. Bike Path Map
Yup. If you rent a non-road bike you will be given a lock per pair of bikes.
Note there is a $15 Lost Key fee however, so please keep an eye on that key!
For the most part we see very few flats on our Beach and Hybrid bikes. If you bring the bike/wheel back in we will fix it at no charge.
If you ask us to come fix it on-site there is a $35 per incident charge.
We assume road riders are experienced at changing flats and provide our Standard and Premium rentals with a “Rescue Kit” containing tube, levers, CO2 and valve adapter.
If you’d like a repair kit for a Hybrid, just ask and we will happily provide one.
We strongly suggest you bring your own pedals and helmets.
PLEASE NOTE: The Bike Bistro DOES NOT allow outside tools to be used on our bikes. The Bike Bistro will gladly apply your bike fit numbers as closely as possible based on stock rental bike components and geometry.
Flats happen. So we provide a Roadside Rescue Kit with Road Bikes including spare tube, Co2 cartridge and trigger, tire levers and Schrader valve adapter. Those items will be replaced during your rental if needed at no cost.
We do not deliver road bikes because the special nature of fitting and tolerances.
Any further adjustment or removal of parts from your rental road bike will be billed at shop per hour labor rates. Probably best if you leave those valve covers on :o).
